Caipirinha is a cocktail native to Brazil. It is made with cachaça, which is a sweet Brazilian type of rum made from sugarcane juice. There are a lot of variations of caipirinha, as you can combine different seasonal fruits and add them to your cocktail (such as grapes, kiwifruit, lemon, lime, mango, tangerine, passion fruit or pineapple). Also, other variations consist of replacing the cachaça with other types of alcohol, such as regular white rum, vodka or even gin.
Although there are some similarities between caipininha and mojito (the usage of lime, sugar and ice), these two cocktails have also differences. For example, the alcoholic beverages are not the same. Also, mojito contains mint, whereas caipirinha does not contain any herb.
This is an easy recipe to prepare caipirinha:
Ingredients
